Globiuz

The Globiuz Series

The Globiuz series kicked off in 2018 with the debut of First Light, and thereafter it had a sequel released in 2019 — The Golden Scallop. Written, illustrated, and directed by R.L. Douglas, the series has gotten cinematic representation of medieval-driven themes of magic and science. Gems of the fantasy world are examined by a deductive approach of logic, comprising a perfect mix of fiction and rationalism.

Globiuz is a story of friends from Amber Heights who handle the wild environment with their wits, by examining the past, the present and the future. Wars, magic, royals, castles, beasts, and freaks; bigger-than-life quests - all is ahead of the quartet composed of four blokes: Crix, Binglow, Legen and the talking crow named Clarnet. What else do you need from such an unconventional team?

Supplementary Thoughts

What makes the Globiuz series stand out is the way it blends classic fantasy charm with a surprisingly analytical backbone. Douglas doesn’t just build a world — he dissects it. His approach to fantasy is almost scientific: every creature, kingdom, and legend feels like it has a logical skeleton beneath the magic. That’s rare in modern fantasy, where spectacle often overshadows structure.

The friendship at the heart of the story is another defining strength. Crix, Binglow, Legen, and Clarnet aren’t just adventurers thrown together for convenience — they represent different ways of thinking, reacting, and surviving. Their dynamic gives the series a grounded emotional core, even when the plot veers into the bizarre or the mythic.

Douglas’s background in visual art also shows. The world of Globiuz feels painted as much as written — landscapes have texture, creatures have weight, and the action often reads like a storyboard for an animated film. It’s no surprise the series has a “cinematic” feel; it’s built with that sensibility from the ground up.

With The Sinister of Bones, the tone deepens. The series begins to explore darker legends, necromancy, and the political decay of Blasard. It’s a natural evolution — the world is growing, the stakes are rising, and the characters are stepping into more dangerous territory. Fans of the first two books have good reason to be excited.

Globiuz isn’t just another fantasy series — it’s a handcrafted universe shaped by a single creator across writing, illustration, and world‑design. That unity of vision gives it a distinctive voice, one that feels both nostalgic and fresh.
